We thank you for sharing it with us.
Every graduation ceremony.
A special to the college.
As we celebrate the success of each of our students.
It's important that we truly celebrate what our graduates of achieved overcome a series of unusual circumstances over the last few years.
And that's putting it mildly.
We're truly excited to be gathered together today to celebrate their achievements.
For guess who've been unable to join us in person.
We are providing a live webcasts at the Ceremonies and the Hinds Community College website today.
This spring will award 1610 degrees and certificates to some 1273 Hinds graduates, which means many of our graduates are earning more than one College credential.
All of that number 695 have chosen to participate in our Commencement Ceremonies.
Among the Graduates this spring, our students who we graduated with honors.
166 students will the graduating cum laude, which means they have a GPA of 3.2 to 3.59.
117 students we graduating Magna Cum Laude, which means they have a GPA of 3.6 to 3.9916 individuals.
We are graduating the spring summa cum laude a, which means throughout their entire college program, they've maintained a 4 grade point average.
It's quite an achievement.
These numbers represent about 23 % of our total graduates this semester.
It's a great accomplishment.
The students will be recognized as well as they come across the stage with honor score.
That community colleges are open door institutions means we welcome all students have the desire to find their better life.
We understand that most students have family in job obligations that require some flexibility and their programs.
We start with not only provide that, we have programs which meets their individual needs, but also maintain a world-class faculty.
We worked diligently provide a number of support systems that help students achieve success in the classroom and beyond.
These efforts contribute to our ability to fulfill our mission of helping people fund their purpose, their passion, and their profession.
While we've been around for more than 100 years.
The reason we exist as never changed.
And that's we serve students.
The power of education that drives our vision for a better life.
Our vision at this institution is it will serve as a catalyst to create a compelling culture.
Right here in Mississippi.
While the graduates tip a force, they represent a diverse set of circumstances.
They are connected by their belief that a community college education is a step up to a broader opportunity.
To build a better life.
Contribute to the communities in which we all live.
When you leave here a day, graduates.
I want you to always remember your part of us.
We want you to come back.
And not only visit from time to time, but continued to be part of the Heinz tradition.
Share your experience with others and help influence them down the line.
I encourage you again to celebrate today's milestone.
Continue to be kind to others.
And most importantly, if I could leave you with anything, find your joy in life.
Not happiness, but find your joy.
And I hope we've helped you make your start with that.
But this time I'd like to the Terriers on stage.
The college officials who are gonna be a helping with the presentation of our graduates to my write your left.
Mr.
Jason web, who was a Dean of CTE, construction of manufacturing.
Dr.
Jenny miles, Vice President of Student Services, misread cotton, Chief of Staff.
Dr.
Carry coal, vice president, instruction for academic and transfer.
To my left.
You're right.
Mr.
Jones, Executive Director of the Hinds Community college Foundation, missionary Bellman, vice president instruction for Career and Technical Education.
This Andrea Janice, Vice President for human resources.
Dr.
Tunes or Robbins, Executive Director of governmental affairs.
And Mr.
Jonathan towns, CTE Dean.
He has the most difficult task on States today, as he will be called the names of the graduates and he will attempt to get every pronunciation absolutely perfect.
But if this pronounciation isn't perfect, please extent him some grace and front of the stage today, Mr.
Marvin MOQ, Vice-President of facility management and auxiliary services.
Dr.
Vague Parker, Vice President of finance.
at this time it's my pleasure to introduce today's commencement speaker someone from your own graduating class Mr.
Dakota Ashby Dakotas from flow would earning an associate degree in a general provost study toward a career in marketing.
He served as president for service or Phi Theta Kappa on the ranking campus and was an active member of the honors Institute on campus.
So at this time, I'd like to ask decoder to come and deliver the commencement address.
Hello, everybody.
Before I like to begin, I'd like to thank Heinz opportunity to speak at this graduation ceremony.
I'm blessed.
An audit.
Good morning.
For those of you who do not know me.
My name is Dakota Jared Ashby.
The first support.
I'm the youngest and the undisputed favorite out of two boys.
I had to say that because he's here today, I have to prove it.
My parents being Stephen and dawn Ashby.
My dad who taught me how to be a man and how to be fair.
But who also tell me how to be goofy?
My mom who told me how to be kind, even when I did not want to be, which I know is a struggle for some of us in here.
And also for both of my parents recording both of your flashes or on its the top-right little lightning bolt, please turn that.
Parents like can you do what can you do?
Without them?
I wouldn't be the person you see before you today.
I think back to my first PTK Ceremony as an officer when the president of Hinds Community College, DR.
Steven basic said, life is just steps leading up your staircase, in which case I'm glad I included Heinz as one of my steps.
However, when I first came to Heinz, I did not know what I wanted to do.
I didn't even know what major I wanted to pursue.
So I decided to go to Heinz Moody College to further figure it out.
What a decision I have made.
Probably one of my smartest as I didn't know how useful highest me to college would be to me.
Was I scared a little bit coming out of high school, there was a stigma about colleges and more specifically, college professors.
High-school teachers always warrants about in college.
They do not care about us, and they wouldn't even hear us out.
I always thought they were trying to scare.
So something and that turned out to be true because in my time here, I've had some of the best teachers.
I've had in my life.
The faculty here at Hinds are some of the most caring and reasonable, some even more than their high school equivalents.
We will not fell them that that's why this is a college graduation.
Additionally, not only does Hinds having credible faculty, you are not going to find a better staff.
You're either let me tell you why.
Number one, they understand and to they care.
They understand what goes on our lives.
Being a college student is not easy, as I'm sure it's all these college graduates can tell you were full-time students who also work a job who have to keep up with relationships.
This is not easy, but they understand what they tell us because there are once in our shoes.
You can see through their actions or on their faces that they care.
And sometimes having just one person who cares makes a difference.
And I know I've had people helped me because they cared and I went to let them know that I care to.
So will you join me in, given them a round of applause.
And I know I know right now I sound like a walking advertisement for Hinds.
I do.
But as Dean flocks would say, Hinds is a fine institution.
All right.
Back to me.
I've had a lot of unexpected moments here in Hinds some bad.
Most good.
I met a lot of people.
Why here at Hinds, many in different aspects of life.
I'm that people are going to transfer to a four-year.
Others who are here just for their associate's degree.
I made great friends.
Future roommates, and lifelong relationships.
Many people who are at different ages and places of origin.
I've even met people from different countries that attend to yours, Heinz.
That's in here at Hinds.
So just Korea.
Or even Florida, different place.
Very different.
But if you look around today, I guarantee that you will see someone who's here for a different reason than you.
But that's what's so great here at Hinds.
Different people in different aspects of life.
Watching speakers prepare for speaking today.
I noticed many of them gave advice.
So why not me?
I know many of you were thinking what advice can he give us?
He's are age or younger graduating with us.
And you're graduating class, you're right.
You're right.
Butt.
I'm giving the speech.
So if I m to give you advice today, it would be always be curious.
No matter where life takes you after this, stay, curious.
What are their be that's something that interests you, are something that you really, really like.
But always stay curious as curiosity, least the knowledge, knowledge, at least two opportunity.
And when you get an opportunity, take it.
Even though they are journeys here of our memories here never will.
As I said earlier, life is just steps leading up the staircase.
And even though I'm about to go to the next floor in my life, I am thankful for where I've been for the last two years.
I think the faculty for creating good learning environment.
I think my friends for laughing with me even over the smallest, don't miss things.
Working with each other to help each other out and worrying about that next test or paper do I'm not thankful about that?
I'm glad that's over, but I also think the professors for teaching us and answering every question, no matter how bad the question was.
Keeping expiring us to learn more.
And finally, I think you, the audience, listening to me.
Thank you.
Thank you, Dakota.
Appreciate that.
Let's get one more round of applause, please.
My team up here will tell you that because I tend to go off script, they have to give me a script.
So if it's not in the script, typically, I miss things and I want to write a wrong very quickly if I could, we have to other individuals here helping us with our Ceremony today.
And I overlooked them because they were not written in my program.
I do want to ask them to stand for a moment and be recognized.
Dr.
Shakira cane bell, one of our Deans of Instruction, and Mr.
Gary fox, Dean of Instruction at the rank and campus.
And also this years three winner, the highest award we have at Hinds Community College.
So thank you both for participating as well.
As we move to the portion of the ceremony where each graduates name will be called.
I am going to ask for your cooperation now I know you're not going to hear me, but I'll say it anyways.
Please.
Limit your applause and help us maintain the dignity of the Ceremony so that everyone can hear there.
Why grandchild's name called today.
We also want live stream to build, pick it up.
So again, if we could keep it limited with the applause, we will celebrate the end.
I promise.
This time would ask Dr.
Coal to come to the podium.
Will the candidates for graduation please stand.
Dr.
Basic on behalf of the faculty are present to you the candidates for career certificate, technical certificate, Associate of Applied Science, and Associate of Arts degree.

We're providing a live webcast today of the ceremonies on the Hinds Community College website.

That's quite impressive.
Oh, that number 695 students have chosen to participate in our Commencement exercises.
Among these graduates this spring, we have students who be graduated with honors and they will be receiving a cord as they crossed the States today.
166 will be graduating cum laude, which means they graduated with a three-point to the 3.59 grade point average.
117 are graduating magna cum laude, which means they have a great point average of 3.6 to 3.9916 individuals.
The graduating the spring summa cum laude for the perfect for 0 gpa mean they never met anything.
But in a during their program of study.
Number represents 23 % of our total graduates this semester is twine accomplishment.
Again, these students, we recognize that across the stage.
Community colleges are open door institutions.
We welcome all students.

And she started his vice president of Hinds connection.
Ladies and gentlemen, Abby grand very.
Welcome.
Fellow students, administration, faculty, staff, friends and family.
I would like to begin that congratulating the 2022 graduating class of Hinds Community College.
Today we celebrate you and your dedication to your education.
Whether you are entering the workforce, are continuing your education at a major university.
You've accomplished scraped things here at hands.
These accomplishments would not be possible without the support, passion, and dedication of the administration, faculty, and staff here it has.
Thank you to each of you and a special thank you.
Dr.
Facing, the president of Hinds Community College.
I would also like today the friends and family that support me and my fellow students as we pursue our educational career and personal goals.
Most importantly, I want to thank God for the strength and endurance he provides each of us every day of our labs.
As are reflecting automata hands.
I can always vividly remember my first day.
I was nervous and unsure.
I've had the next two years.
We're going to go first-class was caught wanted am no, I'm not a morning person.
This is already a little bit of a challenge for me.
But as the class continued, my teacher, Ms.
Hayman, immediately put me at ease and encourage the whole class to come to our if they ever needed help.
Now, over the last two years, has his continued to be a place that encourages me.
And as given me the support I need.
Most importantly, has is a place where I've been inspired to grub not only academically, but personally as well.
Everywhere we go in live and everything we do is a step.
Some steps in our labs leave us and stable and grasping for anything secured a whole to other steps are starting and leave us confident for pairs for that next step in life.
The ladder up in so coming to hands, most of the steps in our lives were made for us best someone else, choosing which cause to go to is one of the very first steps that we decide for ourselves.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, perfectly describes how does that first step that you took towards your career higher education.
Have provides that secure, steady foundation that will see you through as you either go into the workforce or as you continue your education.
I'm Dr.
Seuss is other places you'll go.
It says States step with great care and great tax.
And remember that lives a great balancing act.
Now life is indeed a great balancing act.
And college is a place where balances everything.
Balancing work, school, friends, family.
The list goes on.
It's not easy.
When you chose to come to hands, you are taking great care and great tapped.
You took a step that we give you the best opportunities to succeed.
Everyone.
She uses hands for a different reason.
Maybe you fell in love with it when you were exploring college or friends and family came here, perhaps it made the most financial sense to start here.
No matter why you chose to come to hands while you were here, you have grown and are now ready to step into the next phase of your life.
And while planning the next phase of our lie is very exciting.
We cannot let it take away from the here and now.
Additionally, it give me really daunting to try and have everything planned out and provers 16 says, we make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.
I like to have a plan.
How light to know what's next, and to be prepared.
And while these are good things, they can also still my piece.
When we give our plans to God and rest in what he has planned for us, we found true risks and fulfillment.
If we live our labs only looking to what is next, we will miss out on the joy and growth that is found on the step alive that we're currently own.
Today, we are celebrating a pleading, a step in our last.
Let's rest.
And what God has already given us and trust that what he has playing next is better than any plans that we can make for ourselves.
And the next step, it's going to be different for everyone here.
But we all have, because we have all meet goals and dreams.
However, there's one thing that we all have in common.
That's that we have a steady jumping off point because we started here, it has community college.
As we leave your today, I'm for you not to forget your time here.
Not take for granted what has done for you to remember the people that stood value and to rest in the strength of the film, that God has given, you know, that are common to hands.
You're not just a graduating students, but also a person that can go forth and thrive on that journey of 1000 miles called life.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Added.
As we move to the portion of the ceremony where each Graduates thing will be called.
I'm going to ask for your cooperation now.
I recognize not everyone will listen to me carefully.
But I want to ask you to please limit your applause and help us maintain the dignity of the Ceremony so that each name that is announced can be heard.
Everybody wants to hear their spouse or their child, or their grandchild's name.
So please, again.
Limit the applause at the end.
I promise we will celebrate them appropriately.
At this time, I'd like to ask missionary Bellman to come to the podium.
